cisco downloadWhat is the best hyperterminal program to download for cisco on windows vista?

i have a cisco cayatlyst but windows vista, unlike windows xp, does not have hyperterminal. i was told i need to download one. what is the best one?

thank you.
I like Teraterm, Putty works well also.
You can follow the steps in my technical blog. This will explain how to add Hyperterminal back into Vista.This works for both 32/64bit Vista.

While Hyperterminal shipped with Windows XP, it however did not ship with Windows Vista (Boo Microsoft, Boo!). However that doesn’t mean that you can’t use it. What you can do is rip the following files from a Windows XP disc or installation;

hypertrm.dll

hypertrm.exe

Now all you need to do is place them anywhere in your Vista directory and link the shortcut to

hypertrm.exe. Now you can launch it and itcisco download will first ask for Zip code and state. Afterwards you can being to use Hyperterminal as usaual. If you don’t have a copy of Windows XP handy, you can download the file’s I’ve ripped and use it as well;

Side note, although I am using the Windows 7 RC1, I do see a placeslot of Hyperterminal, but no application for it. You’ll be happy to know that this also will work for Windows 7 as well ;)

My vote definately goes to puTTY since I use it a lot. I even have the portable version on my flash drive so that I can plug in and use it whenever and wherever I want/need.

However, if you want something built in, Vista comes with Terminal, which can be installed via the Add/Change Windows Components menucisco download in the "Add/Remove programs" section. (I know it is not called that anymore, but I cannot remember what it is called right now and don't have my Vista machine in front of me.

Best idea is to use what you are comfortable with.
The best terminal application IMHO is SecureCRT. The features I like about it are simple to use logging, multiple tabs, and the ability to create scripts to automate tasks (such as logging into a device and bringing you into EXEC mode with one push of a function key).

Putty is second choice because of its simple user interface.
PuTTY is a pretty standard option to use in industry. It's free, it works great... can't ask for more.
I am using putty' its free and easy. just google it!
